Each student selected a clay pot with the name of a city and country. They then added rocks for drainage, dirt and seeds. They planted 6 pea seeds, 12-15 carrot seeds and about 5 tomato seeds. The first day they all poured on one cup of water. Then each day after that the students check an online weather source to see if their city was getting rain that day. If it was raining in their city then they added another cup of water. If it was not raining their clay pot, or their country, went without water that day. The first set of pictures show how I set the activity up. The second set of pictures shows the students engaged in the activity.
